The Beatles released 12 albums of their career on, including Magical Mystery Tour (actually the first EP released during a), but not including Yellow Submarine (which had only four new songs) or one of the mangled U.S. versions of their albums .
This is my ranking of the 12 albums from best to worst.
Before The Beatles (White Album)
The White Album was released in 1968 after the release of Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour in 1967. The WhiteAlbum was a big departure from the sound of these albums.
While the songs of Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour to the wall with layers of musical ideas, many of the songs on the White Album are laid bare by comparison. While the album Sgt Pepper seemed vaguely tie the songs together on an issue that seems to be the only item on the White Album to be that there is a problem.
Many critics say about The White Album, too many weak songs (from the BeatlesLabor standards) in any case, when the Beatles greatest. While I agree that is certainly not a song so weak, like "Do not Pass Me By" on Sgt Pepper, still do not agree with this result.
In my ears the drastic change in style (and quality) of songs of the White Album are what keeps it so appealing. It 'an album that I heard countless times over the years, I still hear something new and beautiful with each new hearing.
And yes, I love this "Revolution # 9"was included in the album. While I often stop with the album "Cry Baby Cry" I like now, with the opportunity to travel when I want. I have consulted with "Revolution # 9" many times and is always a different trip. It is certainly a way for everyone, but that makes it even more special for those of us who like it.
Highlights: Dear Prudence, while my guitar gently weeps, Happiness A Warm Gun, I'm so tired Blackbird, I will, Helter Skelter, Cry Baby Cry.
According to SgtPepper
E 'became fashionable to say that Sgt Pepper is overrated. Of course, what often BS hip and that is certainly one of these cases. Sgt Pepper is a great album that all the praise it has received over the years deserves.
And during the White Album has long been one of my favorite Beatles album closer, actually exceed Pepper know that city as the years went by before.
I feel that this is just a perfect album. Not a single weak track on it. The album is likeCarnival and every song is a different trip from this carnival. Even 40 years later, it is incredible that a band (a very young band, even if you think about it), who write songs all so incredibly different in a short period of time and stores them for an album was.
Also, I think it is impossible for each plate, the overvaluation "A Day In The Life" ends. Today is not the greatest album ever closer.
Highlights: With a little help from my friends, Lucy In The SkyWith Diamonds, Getting Better, Fixing A Hole, with the benefit of Mr. Kite, Within You Without You, A Day In The Life.
Third Rivoltella
On the contrary, it is quite fashionable to say that the fact is Revolver Beatles in best album. That all somehow missed at the time, and it was the real reason to switch to a full year before Sgt Pepper came out. Hearing "Tomorrow Never Knows" It 's understandable that someone who represents that view.
But while the songs on Revolver arealmost as happy as Sgt Pepper's (although in my opinion, not entirely with the obvious exception of "Tomorrow Never Knows"), there is the theme song together. The album sounds like an amazing collection of songs than Sgt Pepper has a sense of cohesion. The loose theme Sgt Pepper's attention to what people the idea of an album as an art form at the moment. While looking back, that may not make as much sense today, I still think there are some advantagesthe idea of comparing the two albums.
The main reason for choosing Sgt Pepper Revolver is simply "Yellow Submarine". I'm quite tired of this song has grown over the years and I find it really sticks out like a sore thumb in the sequencing of the disc. It would be much better than one worked.
Highlights: Eleanor Rigby I'm Only Sleeping, here & everywhere, She Said She Said Good Day Sunshine and Your Bird Can Sing, for anyone, Tomorrow NeverKnows
Fourth Abbey Road
Abbey Road is ranked # 1 album of all time as well RateYourMusic.com and while certainly a great album I of course, that does not contradict the placement. For me it just sound a bit 'too soft and not so full of ideas that seems like the three albums I've rated.
That said, the side 2 suite is incredible and I think Abbey Road side to listen to my two beautiful rank of each page of the album the Beatles recorded. YouI hate to say that a page? No, it had some of my favorite songs of the Beatles "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "Oh Darling", along with the Classic Hits "and" Come Together "" Something ". But I could not" Octopus's Garden " , "how Yellow Submarine," I was very tired over the years and now I feel it mucks the flow of an album to do.
Features: Come Together, Oh! Darling, I want you (She's So Heavy), all second-Side
Fifth Magical Mystery Tour
DuringMagical Mystery Tour was not technically an album to publish at that time (it was officially) EP, I consider him one for purposes of this list, and it provided a couple of new songs (along with singles like "Penny Lane" included "and "Strawberry Fields Forever"), I think it makes sense to think of it as an album at this point.
It includes many of the greatest songs of the Beatles psychedelic. "I Am The Walrus" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" in particular. If you really lack of an idea of what the Beatles sounded like most of his deliberately "psychedelic", they must be this album.
I also like the wonderfully bizarre film with the same name.
Highlights: I Am The Walrus, Strawberry Fields Forever, Penny Lane
Sixth Rubber Soul
From 1965 to Rubber Soul was the album where the Beatles started really developing their sound and contains some of the greatest songs ever recorded. The album presents the> Construction music of The Beatles' "Norwegian Wood", love was the first song most people never Sitar is a lyrical, as in "Nowhere Man," the romantic was the first Beatles song at the moment are not text.
But the album has a few clunkers, too. "What Goes On," "Waiting" the most terrible album "Run For Your Life" tracks are all very weak standards of the Beatles.
Highlights: Norwegian Wood Nowhere Man, Michelle, girl, I'mLooking Through You In My Life, If I need someone.
Seventh Let It Be
Let It Be Beatles' last album was released, but did not record the last. In fact it was recorded largely before the Abbey Road in January '69, but released after 1970.
The album is inconsistent and sloppy sound and perhaps especially because of that (like the song) has received more bad reviews than any other Beatles album.
But there are many largeSongs on the album and it seems a bit 'underestimated. The opening track "Two Of Us" is one of my favorites. This includes the classical piano ballads "The long and winding road" and "Let It Be" with the great rocker "Get Back" and "I've Got A Feeling.
"Across the Universe" feels very out of place in the sequencing of the disc, and should, as it was recorded in 1967. But it is still a great song. What is really the heart of the problem, Let It Be. It 's a lot of greatSongs (and a few clunkers, of course), but do not seem to go together a lot in sound or style.
First floor: two of us, "Across The Universe, Let It Be, I've Got A Feeling, The long and winding road, For You Blue Get Back
8th A Hard Day's Night
A Hard Day's Night, was published in 1964 and was the third album by the Beatles. It was his first album, the songs are all original and in fact the only album to feature only original Beatles Lennon / McCartney(How was the first Harrison was a songwriting often helped.)
Although I do not like both those songs on Let It Be, had no much better than an album, and for this reason it is sometimes more fun to hear.
The album is the culmination of their early days of pure pop, before starting to experiment with more complex songs and recording techniques.
Highlights: A Hard Day's Night, If I Fell, and I love you, Can not Buy Me Love, I'll Cry Instead, things we saidToday
Ninth Help!
I think the best songs on Help! to be the best in the song "A Hard Day's Night, but overall the album is not so well together.
Unlike A Hard Day's Night, the album contains some covers ("natural law" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy"), none of which I love for all. The album would be better if they were removed because of out of place and disrupt the flow of the disk.
But the album also has some of their bestpop songs like "Yesterday classic." While "Ticket to Ride" "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" and "Help!" Shows that John Lennon Song Writing was a highlight in advance.
Highlights: Help!, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, I Need You, Ticket to Ride, I just seen a face, yesterday
Beatles tenth Sale
Located between the upper Hard Day's Night In and Help!, Beatles for sale is often overlooked. And if you see that six of the 14 songs were recordedIt 's easy to see why.
But there were / Lennon McCartney gems of the album, and including "No Reply", "I'm a loser," "I'll follow the sun" and "Every Little Thing." The original Beatles album are worth it. But I am completely disinterested in the covers on this, and because this makes a lot of songs on this album, I can not hear too often.
Features: No answer, I'm a loser, I'll follow the sun, Every Little Thing, whatDo
11 Please Please Me
The first Beatles album is particularly interesting for me as a historical artifact at this point, as I do not particularly like to hear it. But the opening ("I saw her standing there") and closing ("Twist & Shout") are great tracks.
Strangely, I feel like most of their cover, I enjoy some 'art on this ("Anna", "Baby It's You" and "Twist & Shout course.)
Highlights: I sawThere, Please Please Me, there is a place, Twist and Shout.
12 ° With the Beatles
Their second album is like the first time without all the "historical significance" to what I hear it very rarely actually means.
Highlights: All My Loving, You've Really Got A Hold On Me
I recommend getting at least the first nine albums on this list and adds that the collection with the Past Masters Past Masters collections 1 and 2 include alltheir individual who is not on these albums (and that includes many of their best songs.)
You should now have the song Yellow Submarine track that is not really an album but also some great songs that you can not get anywhere else (and especially 'It is too. ") And an attractive mix of some their greatest hits.
So if you need more than the Beatles (and if you're like me you are) Get the Anthology series, especially Anthology Anthology 2 & 3
